If you have a severe allergy, please tell us before you visit — and again when you arrive. Our kitchen handles all 14 major allergens. We take every allergen request seriously, but we cannot guarantee that any dish is completely free from cross-contamination. Please speak to a member of the team before ordering.
The Galley is a small, busy seafood restaurant. Our menu is written each morning by Head Chef Han Wang based on what has landed at Brixham and Newlyn markets. Because the menu changes daily and dishes are prepared to order, allergen information is managed on the day rather than printed in advance.
All 14 of the major allergens listed under UK food law are handled in our kitchen. Our team know the menu in detail — please ask, and they will go through the current dishes with you. If you have a serious allergy, tell us when you book so the kitchen can plan ahead.
Under UK food information regulations, food businesses are required to declare the following 14 allergens when they are used as an ingredient in a dish.
All dishes are prepared in a kitchen that handles nuts, shellfish, gluten, and dairy every service. Even with careful preparation, we cannot guarantee a complete absence of trace allergens in any dish. If you have a life-threatening allergy, please speak with us before you visit so we can be honest with you about whether we can accommodate you safely that day.
Han uses gluten-free flour throughout the kitchen, which means most dishes can be made gluten free on request. On the menu, these dishes are marked GfA. Please tell us at the time of booking and again when you arrive, and we will make sure the kitchen prepares your dish accordingly.
Many dishes can be made vegan on request (marked VeA on the menu). Our menu is predominantly fish and seafood, but we always have vegetarian options, and the kitchen will put together a vegan dish where it can. Please tell us when you book.
As a seafood restaurant, fish and shellfish are at the heart of what we do. They are handled throughout the kitchen throughout every service. If you have a fish or shellfish allergy, please call us before booking — we will tell you honestly what is on the menu that day and whether there are suitable options.
Butter, cream, and cheese are used extensively across the menu. Dairy-free adaptations are possible for some dishes — please let us know when you book.
Every dish on the menu is tagged to show how it is served as standard, and what adaptations are available on request.
Ask your server if you would like a dish adapted. Tags show how a dish is served as standard — many dishes can be adjusted with notice.
The single most effective thing you can do is tell us about your allergy or intolerance when you make your reservation. This gives the kitchen time to prepare and allows us to advise you honestly about the menu for that service.
Please also tell a member of the team again when you arrive. On a busy service, one mention is easy to miss. We would rather hear it twice.
